Clear Creek Amana Gets Big Road Win at North Scott

After pushing undefeated defending state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier to the brink last week Clear Creek Amana found itself in position for another big win on Friday.
This time the Clippers closed it out.
Clear Creek Amana overcame an early 9-0 deficit to down North Scott 23-16 on Friday in a non-district contest in Eldridge.
Texton Bollers passed for 172 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown as Clear Creek Amana improved to 3-1 on the season.
North Scott dropped to 1-3 with its second loss in a row.
A week ago Clear Creek Amana led top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier in the third quarter before falling 28-17.
This time the Clippers finished strong.
After North Scott to a 9-0 lead in the second quarter with a safety and a touchdown the Clippers rattled off the next 23 points.
Clear Creek Amana got on the board on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Bollers to Tay Seals.
The Clippers took the lead when Bollers scored on a 2-yard touchdown run and Aiden Gross added a 24-yard field goal to give Clear Creek Amana a 16-9 lead.
Bollers connected with Jonah Drake for an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter to push the lead to 23-9.
North Scott got the ball back with an opportunity to tie the game with 2:34 remaining but the Clipper defense came up with a stop.
Junior Nolan Dao had a sack on the final Lancer drive as Clear Creek Amana closed out the win.
Dao finished with five tackles while Avery Sorensen had 4.5 stops with 1.5 tackles for loss.
Noah Collis and Ian Kelley each had 1.5 tackles for loss for the Clippers.
Bollers completed 17-of-25 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
Drake had eight receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown and Seals had two catches for 21 yards and a touchdown.
Landon Hoffman had three receptions for 62 yards and Kelley rushed for 50 yards for the Clippers.
