Friday State Track and Field Notebook: Regina, Clear Creek Amana Finish Third in 4×200 Relays

DES MOINES – A strong start to the state track and field meet continued for Clear Creek Amana on Friday.
The Clippers finished third in the 4×200 relay at the Class 3A state meet on Friday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines and enter Saturday’s final session eighth in the 3A team standings with 19 points.
“I am really excited with what our team is doing,” Seals said. “We have a lot of guys showing up and going beyond what they’ve done in the past. I am just really happy to see that and we are all having fun.”
Seals was part of the Clear Creek Amana 4×200 squad that finished third on Friday in a season-best time of 1:27.44.
Seals ran the lead off leg and was joined by Riley Colvin, Adam Zeman and Quade Jensen.
“We kind of just threw that relay together, that’s my first time starting it, that’s our first time running all together so for us to go out and throw something down like that I am really excited and I am really happy for that.”
Clear Lake won the 3A 4×200 in 1:26.99.
Regina Finishes Third in 2A 4×200
Regina posted a third-place finish in the Class 2A 4×200 in a season-best time of 1:29.25.
The foursome of Philip Swen, Gabriel Hegelheimer, Hudson Koch and Edwin Gangba took .31 seconds off their previous season best time on Friday in a third-place finish.
West Branch won in 1:28.68.
Clear Creek Amana Girls Add 4×200 Medal
The Clear Creek Amana girls 4×200 relay team of Payton Curtin, Bailey Simpson, Addilyn Scheetz and Elizabeth Timmerman finished sixth in a time of 1:43.17.
The time was a season-best and nearly a full second faster than the previous best time of 1:44.05.
