Juniors Kelley and McCollum Highlight WAMAC All-Division Picks For Conference Champion Solon

On Monday night Solon put than exclamation point on in impressive season that included an overall WAMAC Conference title with its first trip to the state tournament since 2016.
Tuesday the Spartans began to reap the individual rewards for its successful season.
Five Spartans earned all-division honors, highlighted by juniors Maddox Kelley and Tate McCollum who were each named to the WAMAC East Division first team when the conference released its postseason awards.
McCollum was a unanimous first-team selection in the East Division after leading Solon and ranking third in the WAMAC in scoring with 19.2 points per game.
The 5-foot-10 McCollum led the WAMAC and ranked second in Class 3A with 98 made 3-pointers while shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc.
McCollum also averaged 2.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 steal per game while leading the Spartans to a 23-2 record that includes a 15-1 mark in WAMAC play and a 9-1 record against WAMAC East competition.
Kelley joined McCollum on the East Division first team after ranking second on the team ins coring at 10.6 points per game while leading Solon with 4.9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3.5 assists per game.
Junior Grant Gordon was a second-team selection in the East Division after averaging 8.4 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor including 36 percent from 3-point range.
Gordon averaged 4.6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Senior Tanner Heims and junior Kaden Hoeper were each honorable mention picks in the East Division.
