Clear Creek Amana Senior Lower Named WAMAC West Division Player of the Year

For the third consecutive season Averie Lower has earned the top honor in the WAMAC Conference.
Lower was named WAMAC West Division player of the year for the third consecutive season on Wednesday when the league released its postseason awards.
The 6-foot senior guard led all WAMAC players in both scoring and rebounding while leading Clear Creek Amana to a 20-2 record that included an undefeated 10-0 mark against WAMAC West Division foes and a spot in the Class 4A state tournament.
One of the state’s top players, Lower ranks fifth in Class 4A and ninth in the state in scoring with 24.2 points per game.
An Arizona State recruit, Lower shot 54 percent from the floor, including 44 percent from 3-point range, and 77 percent from the free throw line.
A unanimous WAMAC West Division first-team selection, Lower averaged 9.8 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.9 assists per game.
Lower was one of six Clippers to earn all-West Division honors and was joined on the West Division first team by senior guards Lena Evans and Kennedy Stratton.
Evans was a unanimous first-team pick after averaging 17.8 points per game on 43 percent shooting from the field.
The 5-foot-8 Evans averaged 5.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and a team-high 4.3 steals per game.
Stratton earned first-team all-West Division honors after ranking third on the team in scoring at 8.1 points per game while adding 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game and leading the Clippers with 3.5 assists per game.
Freshman Lydia Keller was named to the West Division second team after averaging 6.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal per game.
Junior Bailey Simpson and senior Alex Schrage were each honorable mention picks in the West Division.
Solon had five players named to the East Division teams highlighted by a pair of unanimous first-team selections.
Senior guard Delainey Durr and freshman Tenley Levin were each unanimous first-team all-East Division picks after helping Solon to a 15-8 record and a spot in the 4A regional title game.
Durr averaged 15.1 points, 4.6 rebounds per game and led Solon with 3.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
Levin averaged 18.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game on her way to earning first-team honors.
Junior Laney Johnson was a East Division second-team pick after averaging 6.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.3 assists per game.
Juniors Jerzey Haluska and Laeni Hinkle each earned honorable mention status in the East Division for Solon.
