Liberty High Senio Ramsey Named MVC Mississippi Division Athlete of the Year

West High, City High and Liberty High all competed in regional finals with a spot at the state tournament on the line on Tuesday.
On Wednesday all three teams had players recognized for their regular season play when the Mississippi Valley Conference released its postseason honors.
Liberty High senior Natalie Ramsey was named Mississippi Division player of the year while West High coach Nate Frese was tabbed as the Mississippi Division coach of the year to highlight the awards for area teams.
Ramsey was a unanimous first-team pick in the Mississippi Division and was one of five Lightning players to earn all-division honors.
The 6-foot senior, Ramsey averaged a double-double with 21.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor, including 34 percent from 3-point range, and 84 percent from the free throw line.
Ramsey also averaged 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while helping Liberty High to a 15-8av record and a spot in a 5A regional final.
Junior guard Ava Casey joined Ramsey on the Mississippi Division first team while sophomore guar Natalie Schechinger was a second-team Mississippi Division pick.
Casey averaged 9.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and a team-high 3.9 assists per game.
Schechinger averaged 6.6 points, 6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Junior Morgan Bennett and senior Kennedy Goodheart each earned honorable mention honors for Liberty High.
West High had five players named to the Mississippi Division team led by senior forward Grace Fincham who was a unanimous first-team selection.
Fincham averaged team-highs in points per game at 19.4 and rebounds at 8.5 to go with 2.5 assists per game while helping West High to a 17-7 record and a spot in the 5A state tournament.
Senior Abby Neumiller joined Fincham on the Mississippi Division first team after averaging 10.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
Junior Sasha Baldwin was a second-team all-Mississippi Division pick after averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Seniors Ava Frese and Kate Van Waning were each honorable mention selections in the Mississippi Division.
Nate Frese was named Mississippi Division coach of the year after leading the Trojans to the divisional title.
City High had four players earn all-division honors in the Valley Division.
Senior guard Tessa Driscoll was a first-team all-Valley Division selection after leading the Little Hawks in scoring while helping City High to a 17-7 record and a spot in a regional title game.
Driscoll averaged 12.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game to go with 1.4 steals per contest.
Junior Kaitlin Loria was named to the Valley Division second team after averaging 11 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Senior Thisbe Lewis and junior Hattie Galloway were each Valley Division honorable mention picks.
