State Tournament Bound West High Has Seven Players Earn MVC All-Division Honors

West High snapped a nearly decade long state tournament drought on Tuesday securing a spot at the state tournament for the first time since 2016 with a regional title win over Liberty High.
On Wednesday the Trojans began to rake in the postseason awards for their impressive turnaround season.
West High had seven players earn Mississippi Valley Conference all-division honors and first-year head coach Kaedynn Evans was named coach of the year when the league released its postseason awards on Wednesday.
Juniors Lila Eastvold and Sophia Austen and freshman Cyan Blommer were all first-team selections in the MVC Mississippi Division to headline the list of Trojans honored.
Eastvold was a unanimous first-team pick after leading West High with 863 assists to go with 61 kills, 169 digs, 20 blocks and 30 ace serves.
Austen joined Eastvold as a unanimous selection on the Mississippi Division team after ranking second on the team with 269 kills on .219 hitting and adding 308 digs, 33 blocks and a team-high 34 ace serves.
Blommer was also a first-team pick after an impressive debut season in which she led West High with 276 digs and ranked third on the team with 303 digs.
Sophomores Taylor Otte and Izzie McDonald were both Mississippi Division second team selections for West High.
Otte ranked third on the team with 204 kills on .338 hitting and led West High with 55 blocks.
McDonald had a team-high 386 digs and ranked third on the team with 31 ace serves.
Freshman Josie Austen and sophomore Audrey Small were each honorable mention selections for West High.
Liberty High had five players named to the Mississippi Division team led by junior libero Edie Miller who was a unanimous first-team selection.
Miller ranks third in Class 5A with 449 digs and added 33 ace serves for the Lightning.
Juniors Hadley Miller and Sydney Van Heukelom were each second-team all-Valley Division picks for Liberty High.
Hadley Miller had a team-high 726 assists, 122 kills, 290 digs and a team-best 36 ace serves.
Van Heukelom ranked third on the team with 184 kills and led the Lightning with 65 blocks.
Junior Ellie Wilson and senior Maya Sojka were honorable mention honorees for the Lightning.
City High had five players earn all-division honors led by junior Hattie Galloway who was a unanimous first team selection in the Valley Division.
Galloway led City High with 260 kills on .328 hitting and had a team-high 65 blocks, 102 digs and 17 ace serves.
Senior Jessi Kucera and sophomore Hazel Schluckebier were both named to the Valley Division second team.
Kucera led City High with 237 digs and added 19 ace serves and Schluckebier led the Little Hawks with 447 assists and 23 ace serves and ranked second on the team with 200 digs.
Junior Kaitlin Loria and senior Halle Larew were each Valley Division honorable mention selections for City High.
