The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Ford Washburn
Former City High standout and current Northern Arizona sophomore Ford Washburn was named Big Sky men’s cross country athlete of the week after opening the season by winning the Division I division at the George Kyte Invitational.
Washburn won the title in 22:16.1 as Northern Arizona won the team title with 15 points.
Calia Clubb
Former Clear Creek Amana all-stater and current Northern Iowa senior Calia Clubb had seven kills for the Panthers in a three-set loss to Washington on Saturday in the final match of the DoubleTree Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
Clubb added a block and a dig in the loss to Washington and finished with 17 kills in the three-day event as Northern Iowa went 1-2.
On the season the 6-foot-1 Clubb ranks third on the team with 33 kills and seven blocks while helping the Panthers to a 2-3 record.
Gabbie Schroeder
Liberty High graduate and current Drake senior Gabbie Schroeder had a season-high 20 digs to help the Bulldogs to a three-set sweep of North Texas on Friday at the 305 Challenge in Coral Gables, Florida.
Schroeder had nine digs and an ace serve in a loss to Miami on Thursday and had seven digs, an ace serve and a kill in a five-set win over Floridia International on Saturday as Drake finished 2-1 at the three-day event.
On the season Schroeder ranks fourth on the team with 46 digs helping Drake to a 3-3 start.
