City High capped a historic season last month by winning the first state title in program history.

On Friday a pair of the players that helped lead the Little Hawks to the Class 4A championship earned some postseason honors.

City High senior second baseman Drake Obermueller and senior pitcher Jaxton Schroeder each earned all-state honors from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association when the organization released its postseason honors.

Schroeder and Obermueller highlighted a list of nine Your Prep Sports area players to earn all-state honors from the IHSBCA.

Obermueller was named to the 16-member Elite Team that features the top players from all four classes.

The second base selection on the Elite Team, Obermueller led City High in batting average (.396), hits (53), runs (38), doubles (16), triples (4), extra base hits (21), on-base percentage (.484), slugging percentage (.597) and OPS (1.081).

Obermueller stole 14 bases and drove in 24 runs from his leadoff spot.

Schroeder was a Class 4A first-team selection at pitcher after posting a 5-3 record and 1.87 ERA that included a complete game four-hitter in a 4-1 win over Bettendorf in the 4A title game.

The left-handed throwing Schroeder posted a 1.00 WHIP and struck out 74 in a team-high 60 innings pitched.

Liberty High seniors Brayden Mayer and Cooper Hughes each earned all-state honors in Class 4A.

Mayer was a second team selection at catcher after batting .330 with a state-leading 40 walks.

Mayer had 19 extra-base hits, four home runs, 39 RBI and scored 28 runs while posting a 1.105 OPS.

Hughes was a third team utility pick in Class 4A after batting .353 with 12 extra-base hits and 34 RBI.

The senior shortstop scored 37 runs, had 12 stolen bases and 20 walks.

Clear Creek Amana seniors Maclane Morgan and Ty Fuller were each first team picks in Class 3A.

Morgan was the first team second baseman and Fuller was the 3A first team pick at shortstop after both had stellar seasons.

Fuller hit a team-best .460 with 15 extra-base hits, 51 runs scored and 17 RBI and posted a .566 on-base percentage and 1.186 OPS.

Morgan batted .374 with 21 extra-base hits, three home runs and 34 RBI and also scored 36 runs while posting a .643 slugging percentage and 1.129 OPS.

Solon sophomore Maddox Kelley was a third team utility selection in Class 3A.

Kelley batted .418 with 39 runs scored, 14 extra-base hits and 22 RBI.

Regina sophomores Will Litton and Jack Garvin both earned all-state honors in Class 2A.

Litton was a first team selection at first base and Garvin was a second team selection as a third baseman.

Litton hit .407 with 10 extra-base hits, 24 runs scored and 18 RBI and also went 5-1 with a 1.37 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched.

Gavin batted a team-high .423 with seven extra-base hits, 29 RBI and 16 runs scored while posting a 1.085 OPS.

West High senior Declan Bunn was one of four players statewide to earn the Gary and Sandy Nyhus Leadership Awards
