Solon opened the postseason with a 58-55 win over Benton Community in a Class 3A, Substate 3 quarterfinal on Monday in Solon.

The Spartans improved to 17-5 with the win and advanced to the Region 3 semifinals where it will face Nevada on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Benton Community finished the season 7-15.

Four Solon players had at least nine points in the win led by senior Caleb Bock with a team-high 19 points.

Grant Gordon had 10 points while Maddox Kelley and Jackson Link each had nine points for the Spartans.

Eli Patterson had a game-high 21 points for Benton Community and Carson Pickering had 18 for the Bobcats.
