Liberty High qualified four wrestlers for the Class 3A state meet with a solid performance at the Class 3A District 1 meet on Saturday at Bettendorf High School.

Connor McGonegle, Benjamin Rosen and Landon Bell all secured spots at the 3A state tournament with runner-up finishes on Saturday and Rex Edmonds punched his ticket to state with a third-place finish as the Lightning placed fourth in the team standings with 89.5 points.

McGonegle (26-12) finished runner-up at 106 pounds falling to No. 10 Lucas Reeder of Pleasant Valley 4-1 in the title match.

Rosen (24-11) placed second at 120-pound to earn a trip to the state meet while Bell was runner-up at 175 pounds for the Lightning

Fourth-ranked Bell fell to top-ranked Lincoln Jipp (44-2) of Bettendorf in the 175-pound title match.

Edmonds placed third for Liberty High at 132 pounds.

Edmonds (29-8) went 3-1 with two pins on his way to the third-place finish.

The Class 3A state tournament is schedule for February 19-22 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
