With the postseason, and the release of the postseason pairings, fast approaching West High made a significant jump in the most recent Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union basketball rankings.

Winners of three consecutive games, West High (13-6) moved up two spots to eighth in the most recent IGHSAU Class 5A rankings released on Wednesday.

The regional pairings for Class 5A and 4A are set to be released on February 12.

City High (12-5) stayed put at ninth in the Class 5A rankings while Liberty High (14-4) dropped to No. 10.

Clear Creek Amana (11-6) remained 12th in the Class 4A rankings and Regina (18-1) held its spot at second in the Class 2A rankings.

Top-ranked teams this week are Johnston in Class 5A, Sioux City Heelan in Class 4A, Mount Vernon in Class 3A, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in Class 2A and Council Bluffs St. Albert in Class 1A.
