Boys Wrestling Roundup: Nash and Howell Win Titles as Clear Creek Amana Finishes Fifth at WAMAC Conference Tournament

Cale Nash won his third WAMAC Conference crown on Saturday.
Teammate Nolan Howell won his first.
Together those two senior stalwarts helped Clear Creek Amana to a fifth-place team finish at the 12-team WAMAC Conference tournament on Saturday at Benton Community High School in Van Horn.
Nash won the 132-pound title and Howell added a title at 144 pounds as Clear Creek Amana finished with 173 points.
Williamsburg had one champion but six finalists on its way to winning the team title with 225.5 points, which was 30 more than Independence and West Delaware.
Host Benton Community crowned three champs while finishing fourth with 191 points.
Defending champion Mount Vernon was sixth with 152 points followed by Solon with 135.5
A four-time WAMAC finalist, Nash won his third WAMAC title and second in a row with a 17-1 tech fall over Remy Ressler of Independence in the 132-pound title match.
Class 3A ninth-ranked Nash (33-5) went 3-0 with a pin and two tech falls on his way to the 132-pound title.
Howell was nearly as dominant on his way to his first WAMAC title.
Sixth-ranked Howell (38-8) reached the championship match with back-to-back tech fall victories and won an 8-7 decision over 2A third-ranked Tyler Wieland of Independence in the title match.
Seven other Clippers finished in the top five on Saturday led by Jay Halverson (20-12) who finished third at 138 pounds and Vinnie Keller (20-7) who placed fourth at 285 pounds.
Freshman Cole Kasparek (37-11) was fifth at 106 pounds, Malachi Clement (31-19) was fifth at 126 pounds, Trace Robertson (28-19) was fifth at 150 pounds, Aidan Schrock (22-11) was fifth at 165 and Dylan Schrock (29-15) was fifth at 190.
Solon got an individual title from sophomore Lucas Feuerbach at 215 pounds and had six wrestlers earn top-five finishes.
Feuerbach (40-3) pinned Jeryn Funke of West Delaware in 2:16 in the 215-pound championship match.
Jayden Steapp (29-13) finished third at 120 pounds for Solon.
Charlie Karam (34-16) placed fourth at 138 pounds and Carson Kidwell (37-11) was fourth at 157 pounds for Solon.
Jackson Feuerbach (34-14) was fifth at 175 pounds and Grant Wilson (36-9) was fifth at 285 pounds.
