The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Ford Washburn
Former City High standout and current Northern Arizona sophomore Ford Washburn was named Big Sky Conference Indoor Men’s Track Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Washburn won the mile at the Lumberjack Team Challenge on Friday in a career-best time of 4:04.08.
When adjusted for altitude, Washburn’s time of 3:55.22 is the seventh-fastest time in Division I this season and the top time in the Big Sky Conference.
Lauren Riggle
Clear Creek Amana graduate and current Loras College senior Lauren Riggle was named to the United Soccer Coaches scholar all-American team follow a stellar senior season in which she was named American Rivers Conference Offensive Most Valuable Player, first-team all-conference and first-team all-region.
Riggle maintained a 3.50 GPA while collecting 30 points on 12 goals and six assists while helping the Duhawks to a 20-0-2 record, an American Rivers Conference title and a spot in the NCAA Division 3 Sweek 16.
Paige Rocca
Former City High standout and current Missouri State senior guard Paige Rocca scored in double figures in a pair of wins for the Bears over the weekend.
Rocca had 10 points, three rebounds and two assists in a 84-57 win over Evansville on Friday and had 11 points, four rebounds and four steals in a 73-57 win at Indiana State on Sunday.
On the season the 5-foot-9 Rocca is averaging 8.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while helping Missouri State to a 13-4 record including a 5-1 mark in Missouri Valley Conference games.
