Tyler Rindels will officially start his senior season at City High next month.
Prior to kicking off his final prep football season Rindels made a decision on his football future.
Rindels announced his commitment to Northern Illinois on Sunday with a post on social media.
“I first want to thank God for putting me in this position for success. Secondly I want to thank my family for everything that they’ve sacrificed to help get me to this point and finally I want to thank all of my coaches for helping me reach this level,” Rindels said in a post on X. “With that being said I would like to announce my commitment to Northern Illinois University.”
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound offensive tackle chose Northern Illinois over offers Northern Iowa, St. Thomas, South Dakota and others.
A three-year starter on the offensive line for City High Rindels has earned all-district honors each of the past two seasons.
Last season Rindels helped City High to a 6-4 record and a spot in the Class 5A playoffs.
Rindels helped pave the way for the City High offense to average 33.5 points and 436 total yards per game last season.
