Softball Roundup: Offensive Explosion Helps City High Earn Doubleheader Split at Waterloo West

City High split a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division doubleheader with Waterloo West on Tuesday in Waterloo dropping the opener 5-4 and winning the nightcap 16-10.
The Little Hawks moved to 5-9 on the season with the doubleheader split while Waterloo West now sits at 5-12.
Waterloo West scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a win in the opener.
Lianna Hull went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored for City High while Molly Carlson homed and drove in two runs for the Little Hawks.
Maeve Obermueller was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored and Mackenzie Brown had two hits and scored a run for City High in game one.
City High exploded offensively in the second game pounding 19 hits while earning the doubleheader split.
Avy Lindsey went 3-for-6 with a double and two home runs to headline a list of four Little Hawks with at least three hits.
Lindsey drove in five runs and scored twice.
Carlson was 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and six RBI while Vivienne Heller was 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
Eliza Mitchell was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, Eve Vitense was 3-for-4 with a double an RBI and two runs scored and Brown had two hits and scored a run.
Hull had two hits, walked three times and scored two runs and Obermueller walked twice and scored three runs.
Sophie Price worked two scoreless innings of relief allowing just two hits and striking out one to earn the win for City High.
