Softball Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Sweeps Third-ranked Mount Vernon

Clear Creek Amana swept Class 3A fourth-ranked Mount Vernon in a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader on Monday in Mount Vernon winning the opener 8-4 and taking the nightcap 6-3.
The Clippers improved to 10-4 on the season with the sweep while Mount Vernon dropped to 15-4 with the losses.
Elizabeth Timmerman picked up the win in game one allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out two and walking none in 4 1/3 innings.
Aeslyn Massey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Reese Stockman was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and scored three runs to lead the Clippers.
Lizzie Pasbrig had a hit and drove in two runs, Timmerman had a hit and drove in a run and Brenna Williams had a double, drove in two runs and scored a run.
It was more of the same in the nightcap as Clear Creek Amana broke open a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Eight different Clippers had hits in game two led by Kyla Schulte who was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
Massey had a hit, drove in a run and scored twice and Stockman and Timmerman each had hits and scored runs.
McKenna Kelley earned the win allowing two runs on two hits while striking out four over four innings.
Timmerman worked two scoreless innings of relief to earn the save.
