Track and Field Roundup: Big Day For Naeve Highlights Strong State Qualifying Meet Performance By Regina

Reese Naeve had a big day to help Regina to a runner-up team finish at the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet on Thursday at Tipton City Park in Tipton.
Naeve won a pair of individual titles while auto qualifying for the state meet in four events as Regina rolled up 90 team points to finish runner-up behind Tipton which won the team title with 143 points.
Naeve won the high jump clearing 5-1 and added a title in the 100 hurdles in 15.77.
The sophomore also ran on the Regals’ winning 4×100 relay team and was part of the Regina shuttle hurdle relay team that finished runner-up.
Avery Recker finished second in the 200 in 26.82 for Regina and was part of the Regal’s winning 4×100 and 4×200 teams.
Recker, Naeve, Betsy Wolfe and Avery Kies won the 4×100 in 51.68 while Kies, Wolfe, Recker and Caitlin Martin won the 4×200 in 1:50.42.
The foursome of Naeve, Morgan Miller, Ella Keune and Alli Clark finished second in the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:08.09.
The Regina boys had four events automatically qualify for the state meet highlighted by a pair of individual titles from Edwin Gangba and Samuel Welter.
Gangba won the 200 in 22.6 and Welter won the 1,600 in 4:46.66 to secure spots at state.
Jackson Naeve, Gangba, Alex Jensen and Savion Miller won the 4×100 in 43.94 and Naeve, Gangba, Jensen and Michael Martin won the 4×200 in 1:31.63.
