Girls Basketball Roundup: Second-ranked Solon Opens Season With Road Win Over 1A No. 3 Martensdale-St. Marys

Second-ranked Solon passed its first test in what should be a challenging early-season slate with flying colors on Friday.
Class 3A second-ranked Solon jumped to a 38-19 halftime lead on its way to a 62-41 win over 1A third-ranked Martensdale-St. Marys in the season opener for both teams in Martensdale.
Callie Levin led three Solon players in double figures with a game-high 23 points as Solon opened the season with a road win over a top-three ranked team.
Mia Stahle had 12 points and Hailey Miller added 10 points for Solon which also got six points from sophomore Delainey Durr.
Sophia Shannon led Martensdale-St. Marys with 14 points and eight rebounds and Campbell German had 11 points and five boards for the Blue Devils.
Solon returns to action on November 25 when they face Class 2A top-ranked Dike-New Hartford at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids at 6:55 p.m.
