Girls Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Continues Late-season Surge With Win at No. 12 West High

The later into the season Liberty High gets the better the Bolts seem to play.
Class 5A No. 10 Liberty High continued its late-season ascent with perhaps its biggest victory yet, a 72-60 win over cross-town rival No. 12 West High on Friday in a top-15 matchup at West High.
The win was the first for Liberty High in nine tries against the Trojans and improved Liberty High to 12-6 on the season.
Liberty High has won three in a row and five of its last six games with just a pair of regular season games remaining.
West High had a two-game win streak stopped with the loss and dropped to 13-6 on the season.
The closest Liberty High had been to a win over West High was earlier this season when it lost 42-40 to the Trojans on December 9.
The Lightning finally got over the hump against their rivals on Friday.
Jasmine Barney had a team-high 25 points and six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots to lead the Lightning.
Madeline Casey added 11 points, going 3-of-5 from 3-point range as Liberty High finished 10-of-19 from beyond the 3-point stripe as a team.
Avery Gaudet had nine points and two assists for Liberty High and Haley Schroeder came off the bench to score six points and added two steals.
Ava Meyer had six points and seven rebounds while Kennedy Daugherty had six points and two rebounds.
