City High Senior Knudtson Commits to Kirkwood Community College

City High senior standout Alex Knudtson has announced his future plans.
A member of the City High pitching rotation for the past two seasons Knudtson announced his commitment to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids with a post on social media.
“Excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Kirkwood CC,” Knudtson wrote on Twitter. “I’d like to thank my friends, family and all my coaches and teammates for helping me get to where I am today.”
Knudtson has emerged as one top pitchers in Class 4A the past two seasons and has been a stalwart in the City High rotation since his sophomore season.
The right-hander has a career 2.36 ERA in 86 innings over the past three seasons helping City High win 72 games and make a pair of state tournament appearances during that span.
Knudtson enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore in 2021 when he posted a 5-1 record and 1.38 ERA while striking out 32 in 40 2/3 innings.
Last season Knudtson emerged as a two-way threat for City High going 3-2 with a 3.13 ERA in 38 innings on the mound while hitting .363 with nine extra-base hits.
Knudtson scored 27 runs and ranked second on the team with 38 RBI last season helping City High reach the Class 4A state semifinals.
