Cael Fiderlein/Gavin Hierseman
West Branch graduates and current Central College sophomores Gavin Hierseman and Cael Fiderlein were each named to the American Rivers Conference all-academic football team this fall.
Fiderlein ranked seventh on the team with 41 tackles this season as a linebacker making 16 solo stops breaking up two passes and forcing a fumble while posting a 3.61 GPA.
Hierseman made nine tackles and forced two fumbles and also averaged 16 yards per return on a team-high 1 kick off returns and owns a 3.95 GPA.
Tom Adolph
West High graduate and current Central College senior defensive tackle Tom Adolph was named to the American Rivers Conference all-academic team for a third time this fall.
A fifth-year senior, Adolph owns a 3.68 GPA and was a starter on the Dutch defensive line collecting 30 tackles with three tackles for loss and two sacks.
Adolph also had a pass breakup and blocked a kick while helping Central to a 7-3 record.
Cael O’Neill
Solon graduate and current Wartburg College junior Cael O’Neill set a single-season school record for field goals when he connected on a 32 yarder in a 34-31 loss to Mount Union in the Division III national semifinals on Saturday in Alliance, Ohio.
O’Neil made all four PAT attempts in the semifinal contest on Saturday and connected on his school record 14th field goal of the season to break the previous single-season mark of 13 set in 2008.
On the season O’Neil was 14-of-18 on field goals and 60-of-67 on PAT attempts helping the Knights to a 13-1 record.
