Claire Ernst and Emmy McComas combined for 28 kills as Class 5A No. 15 City High downed Dubuque Hempstead 25-21, 25-18, 25-14 in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division match on Tuesday in Dubuque.

Ernst had a team-high 17 kills to go with 15 digs and surpassed the 500-kill mark for her career on Tuesday as City High improved to 1-4 on the season and 1-1 in MVC play.

McComas added 11 kills and nine digs for the Little Hawks and Lauren Koch had three kills seven blocks and two ace serves.

Norah Jespersen had 33 assists in the win and Haleigh Nelson had 10 digs and three ace serves for City High.

Dubuque Hempstead dropped to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in MVC play with the loss.
