Substate Baseball Roundup: Regina Falls to West Liberty in Substate Semifinal

West Liberty defeated Regina 8-1 on Saturday in a Class 2A, Substate 5 semifinal in Iowa City.
The Comets improved to 15-12 on the season and advanced to the Substate 5 title game with the win and will face top-seeded Cascade (19-5) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Regina closed the season 14-3.
West Liberty broke open a 1-1 game with five runs in the top of the fourth inning and never let the Regals back in the game.
Drake Collins earned the win for West Liberty allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out seven and walking three in 6 2/3 innings.
Jack Tierney went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Cameron Lehman added a hit for the Regals.
Tierney took the loss for Regina allowing six runs, one earned, on his hits while striking out three and walking two.
Connor Nicpon allowed two runs on four hits in three innings of relief.
