Softball Roundup: Nibaur Tosses Gem as Fourth-ranked Regina Downs Cascade in 11 Innings

Emma Nibaur tossed 11 scoreless innings on Thursday as Regina outlasted Cascade 2-0 in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional thriller in Cascade.
Nibaur and Cascade starter Kate Green matched each other through 10 innings before Class 2A fourth-ranked Regina finally broke through with a pair of runs in the 11th.
Gabby Sueppel led off the 11th with a single and scored on a two-out RBI double by Laci Chambliss.
Regina added an insurance run as Jillian Panther plated Chambliss with a single to center field.
Nibaur completed the 11-inning shutout by striking out the side in the 11th and finished with 13 strikeouts on the night.
Regina improved to 8-4 on the season and 4-1 in RVC play while Cascade dropped to 4-5 and 2-1 in conference play.
Dani Laughlin, Nibaur and Sueppel all had two hits to lead Regina while Courtney Kessler, Morgan Gahan, Chambliss and Panther all added hits.
Nibaur allowed just six hits and four walks in the 11-inning complete game.
Green was nearly as effective for Cascade giving up the two runs on 10 hits while striking out two and walking just one in 10 2/3 innings.
