Baseball Roundup: Regina Tightens Grip on RVC South Division Lead With Win Over West Liberty

Regina remained red-hot, extended its winning streak and continued to tighten its grip on the River Valley Conference South Division lead with a 6-2 win over West Liberty on Monday in Iowa City.
Freshman Connor Nicpon tossed five strong innings and Jack Tierney had two hits and drove in a pair of runs as Regina improved to 6-3 on the season and 6-0 in RVC South Division play with its fifth consecutive win.
West Liberty dropped to 3-6 on the season and 2-3 in conference action.
Regina sits atop the RVC South Division standings more than two games in front of Mid-Prairie which is second at 3-2.
Nicpon allowed just one run on five hits while striking out five and walking three in five innings to earn the win over Monday.
Regina scored the first six runs of the game and took control with a three-run third inning that featured an RBI single by Tierney.
Tierney doubled in a run in the first inning and finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
Cameron Lehman went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice and Christian Mills had a hit and drove in two runs.
Danny Gavin had a hit and scored a run, Henry Bottorff had a hit and scored a run and Jackson Naeve scored a run for Regina.
