West Branch sophomore Claire Jarrett secured a top-10 finish at the Class 1A state golf meet on Friday at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.

Jarrett shot a shot a 91 on Friday and finished with a 36-hole scored of 178 to place ninth at the 2A state meet.

The ninth-place finish from Jarrett helped West Branch to an eighth-place team finish.

West Branch shot a 414 on Friday and finished with a two-day total of 809 on its way to an eighth-place finish.
Algona Garrigan won the team title with a 713 while Grundy Center was runner-up with a 739.

Central Lyon finished third with a 757, New London was fourth with a 768 and Newell-Fonda was fifth with a 769.

Jarrett followed up an opening-round 87 with a 91 to Friday to finish ninth.

She was three strokes back of Kylie Powers of IKM-Manning for eighth place and finished one stroke in front of tenth-place Sidney Tritz of Remsen St. Mary’s.

Sophia Kouba shot a 190 for West Branch while Alex Poppen added a 204 for the Bears.

Gabby Rushton finished with a 237, Karley Staker shot a 242 and Marisa Herring shot a 263.
