Last season West Branch overcame a small deficit after the opening round to claim the Class 2A state title.
On Tuesday the Bears couldn’t quite duplicate that feat but posted a second consecutive top-three finish at the Class 2A state meet at Goldwater Golf Links in Ames.
Defending 2A champion West Branch shot a 317 on Tuesday and finished with a 36-hole total of 630 to place third at the two-day event.
Hudson shot a 310 on Tuesday to win the 2A team title by 10 strokes over runner-up Dyersville Beckman with a 619.
