In her final Mississippi Valley Conference divisional meet appearance Liberty High senior standout Ashlyn Keeney helped lead the Lightning to their best conference finish ever.

Keeney won a pair of individual titles and added a third-place finish as Liberty High finished runner-up at the MVC Mississippi Divisional meet at Western Dubuque High School in Epworth.

Titles from Keeney in the 1,500 and 3,000 helped Liberty High rack up 115.5 team points to edge third-place City High by half a point.

Cedar Rapids Prairie won the team title with 142.

Keeney won the 1,500 in 5:04.99 and took the 3,000 in 10:36.32 to go with a third-place finish in the 800.

Isabelle Woody added a title in the high jump by clearing 5-2 and Darya Acas was runner-up in the discus to pace the Lightning.

Liberty High got a third-place finish from Cori Mac in the 3,000, Brie Klein was third in the 100 hurdles and the Lightning were third in the shuttle hurdle and sprint medley relays.

Freshman Ani Wedemeyer won an individual title and City High won a pair of relay titles on its way to a third-place team finish.

Wedemeyer won the 800 in a time of 2:19.39 and finished third in the 400 and sixth in the 100 and City High won the 4×400 and distance medley.

The City High distance medley team of Ruth Cloyd, Claire Brown, Ava Bell and Rowan Boulter won in 4:26.56 and Iris Wedemeyer, Martha Hamilton, Eva Reynolds and Ani Wedemeyer won the 4×400 in 4:02.06

Boulter was runner-up in both the 1,500 and 3,000 for the Little Hawks and Reynolds was runner-up in the 400 hurdles.
