After a year away the City High girls cross county team is headed back to the state meet.

The Little Hawks secured a spot at the state meet with a runner-up finish at the Class 4A state qualifying meet on Wednesday at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.

Pleasant Valley won the team title with 44 points while City High was runner-up with 89.

Linn-Mar finished with 105 points edging Liberty High by one point for the final state qualifying spot.

City High had three runners finish in the top 13 led by junior Iris Wedemeyer who continued a strong season with a seventh-place finish in a time of 19:36.

Senior Rowan Boulter was 10^th in 19:43 and freshman Ani Wedemeyer placed 13^th for City High in a time of 20:01.

Lucy Corbin was 28^th in 21:15 and Nina Kuhlman was 31^st in 21:37 for the Little Hawks.

Liberty High senior Ashlyn Keeney secured a fourth consecutive trip to the state meet with a runner-up finish in a time of 19:02.

Pleasant Valley freshman Grace Boelyn won the individual title in 18:40 as the Spartans put three runners in the top six.

The Class 4A girls state meet is schedule for October 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
