Softball Roundup: Tenth-ranked Solon Splits Doubleheader With 4A No. 10 Marion

What else would you expect of two teams with the same ranking and nearly identical records but a doubleheader split?
Class 4A tenth-ranked Marion and 3A No. 10 Solon split a WAMAC East Division doubleheader in Marion on Wednesday with Marion taking the opener 8-3 and Solon winning the nightcap 7-1.
Marion moved to 22-11 and 14-10 in WAMAC play while Solon is now 22-10 and 16-8 in conference games.
Kendall Jensen took the loss for Solon in the opener allowing eight runs, six earned, on 10 hits in five innings.
Camryn Keith had two hits and drove in a run and Monet Barnhouse had a pair of hits for Solon in game one.
Jada Buffington had a hit and scored a run and Hilary Wilson had a hit, an RBI and scored a run in the opener.
Izzy Frees earned the win for Solon in game two holding Marion to just one run on five hits while striking out four and walking three in a complete game.
Wilson went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, a RBI and three runs scored to lead the Solon attack.
Keith went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored and Tiffany Primmer and Buffington each had two hits.
Barnhouse homered and drove in two runs, Sarah Heick had a hit and drove in a run and Meghan O’Neill had a hit and scored a run.
