Solon remained red-hot on Thursday pushing its season-best winning streak to 13 in a row with a doubleheader sweep of Vinton-Shellsburg in Solon.

Class 3A No. 8 Solon won the opener 10-0 in five innings and took the nightcap 5-0 to complete its third WAMAC Conference doubleheader sweep of the week.

Solon improved to 20-5 on the season and 14-4 in WAMAC play while Vinton-Shellsburg dropped to 6-17 and 2-12 in conference games.

Spartan pitchers Kendall Jensen and Carly Ellison held Vinton-Shellsburg to four combined hits in the doubleheader as Solon posted its third and fourth shutouts of the season.

Jensen spun a one-hitter in the opener, striking out two and walking one.

Hilary Wilson went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in the game one win while Sarah Heick was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored.

Monet Barnhouse and Jensen each had two hits and drove in two runs and Jada Buffington had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run.

Tiffany Primmer had a hit and an RBI and Ava Stebral had a hit and scored a run.

Ellison struck out four in a three-hit shutout in game as Solon completed the sweep.

Ellison had a hit and drove in two runs while Heick was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Camryn Keith doubled and drove in a run, Stebral had a hit and drove in a run and Wilson and Primmer each had hits and scored runs.
