Another night, another doubleheader sweep of a top-five opponent for the red-hot Clear Creek Amana softball team.
Clear Creek Amana followed up a sweep of Class 4A fourth-ranked Benton Community on Monday by taking both games from Class 3A second-ranked Williamsburg in a WAMAC West Division doubleheader on Wednesday in Oxford.
The Clippers have now won 10 in a row and are 10-2 on the season and 8-2 in WAMAC play while Williamsburg dropped to 10-4 and 7-3 in conference games.
Clear Creek Amana the opener 1-0 in nine innings and took the night cap 5-0 as Ashley Webb and Bliss Beck each tossed complete game shutouts.
Webb allowed just three hits and didn’t issue a walk in the opener, fanning five in the complete game win.
Clear Creek Amana scored the winning run in the ninth when Reece Stockman singled with one out and scored on an Olivia Miller bunt.
Webb outdueled Williamsburg sophomore Peyton Driscoll who struck out 16 and walked four while allowing three hits in 8 1/3 innings.
Emma Mathis and Ellie Crow had the other two hits for Clear Creek Amana in game one.
Beck tossed a gem in the nightcap, allowing just four hits while striking out seven and walking seven in a shutout.
Gabrielle Bedford and Katelyn LeFleur provided the offense, each going 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.
Bedford scored twice and drove in a run whiel LeFleur drove in three and scored once.
Mathis scored a run and Stockman and Crow each added hits for the Clippers.
