Softball Roundup: Top-ranked Williamsburg Sweeps No. 8 Liberty High

Class 3A top-ranked Williamsburg swept a doubleheader from 5A No. 8 Liberty High on Monday in North Liberty winning the opener 1-0 and taking the nightcap 4-1.
Williamsburg improved to 5-1 on the season with the sweep while Liberty High dropped to 3-3.
Peyton Driscoll outdueled Kara Maiers in a pitchers duel in game one striking out nine and walking three in a four-hit shutout.
Maiers fanned 13 and walked three allowing just one unearned run on four hits.
Mischa Reiners went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple to lead Liberty High while Haley Schroeder and Ella McLaughlin each had a hit.
Liberty High managed just four hits in the nightcap with Brynlee Slockett going 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored and Kennedy Daugherty going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Eva Stewart doubled and Raquel Trolliet had a hit for the Lightning.
Kinsley Robertson took the loss allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits while striking out eight and walking two in a complete game.
