Blake Timmons and Jacob Smith combined for a no-hitter as Solon blanked Regina 8-0 in a non-conference contest on Wednesday in Iowa City.

Timmons and Smith combined for nine strikeouts in seven no-hit innings as Solon improved to 2-1 with its second consecutive win.

Regina dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

Timmons allowed just three walks and struck out five in four innings and Smith fanned four in three hitless innings of relief.

Brady Jeworrek keyed an eight-hit Solon attack going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Cade Chapman had a hit, scored twice and drove in a run for the Spartans.

Brett White, Jackson Ryan, Gehrig Turner all had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run while Brayden Rickertsen tripled, drew two walks and scored for the Spartans.

Adam Connell took the loss for Regina allowing eight runs on six hits while striking out two and walking four.
