Boys Track and Field Roundup: Solon Rolls to Team Title at Home Denny Gruber Relays

Solon won three events and finished runner-up in 11 others while running away with the team title at the Denny Gruber Relays on Saturday at Spartan Stadium in Solon.
Tyler Bilskie won the 800 in 2:08.69 and Solon won three relay titles while racking up 167 team points to finish 67 points clear of runner-up Marion.
The Spartans got 12 total runner up performances, finishing second in nine individual events while easily outdistancing the field at the 10-team meet.
Anamosa was third with 66 points followed by Mount Vernon with 59, North Cedar with 53 and Vinton-Shellsburg with 52. Regina was seventh with 26 points.
The Solon foursome of Jackson Ryan, Nash Kotar, Brady Mullen and Brady Jeworrek won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:07.04 and the team of Trin Eidahl, Michael Pipolo, Brayden Rickertsen and Blake Timmons won the sprint medley in 1:38.43
Ryan, Danny Knezevich, Jeworrek and Colton Hoffman won the 4×100 in 45.32.
Hoffman was runner-up in the high jump and 100 and Zach Harp was second in both the shot and discus.
Timmons was second in the 100, Rickertsen was second in the 400, Michael Yeomans was second in the 800 while Ben DeValk was runner-up in the 1,600 and Jeworrek was second in the 110 hurdles.
Carson Jensen won the 400 in a time of 51.85 and third in the 200 to lead Regina while Josh Gaffey was fourth in the shot put.
