Boys Golf Roundup: Haege Jr. Earns Medalist Honors as Solon Wins Benton Invite

After finishing runner-up in each of its first two 18-hole meets of the season by a combined total of four strokes Solon got over the hump with a team title on Saturday.
The Spartans had three players shoot 79 or better on Saturday and ran away with the team title at the Benton Invite at Tara Hills Golf Course in Van Horne.
Frank Haege Jr. fired a 74 to earn medalist honors as Solon shot a 315 as a team to finish 14 strokes in front of runner-up Independence.
Clear Creek Amana had a pair of players in the top-10 led by individual runner-up Zach McCarty while finishing third at the eight-team meet with a 332.
Jack McCarty shot a 77 and Mac McCarty a 79 for Solon which finished second at both the Solon Invite and Tipton Invitationals to defending 2A runner-up West Branch.
Brennan Heesch shot an 85 and Lucas TePoel an 87 for the Spartans on Saturday.
Zach McCarty fired a 75 to pace Clear Creek Amana and was one stroke back of Frank Haege Jr. of Solon for the individual title.
Ryan Navara carded an 81 to place eighth for the Clippers.
