One road win down for Regina, two more wins away from home to go.

Regina opened postseason play with a 54-49 win over Mediapolis on Tuesday in a Class 2A, Region 3 quarterfinal in Mediapolis.

The Regals improved to 11-7 with the win and advanced to the Region 3 semifinals where it will travel to Van Buren (15-6) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Second-seeded Van Buren advanced with a 46-45 win over Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday.

Regina built a 31-18 halftime lead and held off a late Bulldog rally to advance to the Region 3 semifinals.

Hallie Mohr led Mediapolis with 13 points and six rebounds and Haley Steffener had nine points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs.
