Solon had a pair of individual champions and qualified five wrestlers for the district meet while finishing in a tie for runner-up in the team standings at the Class 2A, Section 13 meet on Saturday in DeWitt.

Top-ranked Hayden Taylor and senior Caleb Ebert each claimed sectional titles as the Spartans finished tied with Camanched with 160.5 points.

Hosts Central DeWitt had a meet-best five individual champions on its way to winning the team title with 220.5 points.

Taylor remained unbeaten on the season and pushed his record to 33-0 winning the 160-pound title with a 16-1 second-period tech fall of West Liberty sophomore Drake Collins.

Ebert (29-8) won the 152-pound title with a 7-0 victory over Camanche senior Brennan Kramer in the title match.

The Spartans had a trio of wrestlers qualify for next week’s District 7 meet in Solon with runner-up finishes on Saturday.

Juniors Lucas Kampman and Gage Marty and senior Lucas TePoel all posted second-place finishes to extend their seasons.

Kampman (22-15) was runner-up at 170 pounds falling to Logan Waltz of Camanche via third-period fall in the title match.

Fifth-ranked Cade Everson (38-2) of Camanche pinned TePoel (18-13) in the 182-pound final.

In the best title match of the day tenth-ranked Marty (31-7) dropped a 5-2 decision to second-ranked Kobe Simon (31-3) of West Liberty.

Solon will host the District 7 meet next Saturday starting at Noon with the top two finishers at each weight advancing to the state meet February 18-20 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
