Girls Basketball Roundup: Solon Holds Off Maquoketa to Get Back in Win Column

Solon didn’t have to wait long for a shot at starting a new winning streak after having a seven-game streak stopped with a road loss to Class 4A No. 14 Cedar Rapids Xavier on Monday.
Class 3A No. 13 Solon got back in the win column on Tuesday with a 57-50 victory over Maquoketa in WAMAC East Division contest in Solon.
Callie Levin poured in a game-high 26 points as Solon improved to 9-3 on the season.
Levin had seven rebounds, five assists, five steals and three blocks to go with her game-high 26 points and made six consecutive free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Ava Stebral had nine points for Solon which made eight first-half 3-pointers while building a 39-19 halftime lead.
Kaia Holtkamp had eight points and Elly Holubar grabbed nine rebounds for Solon.
Jackie Miller had 22 points and CJ Yeager had 10 for Maquoketa which dropped to 5-8 with the loss.
