Class 5A eighth-ranked City High used a 29-point third quarter to break open a tie game at the half on its way to a 76-54 win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Tuesday at Harding Middle School in Cedar Rapids.

City High outscored the Cougars 29-11 in the third quarter to snap a 32-all halftime tie while improving to 2-1 on the season.

Kennedy dropped to 1-4 with the loss.

Kelsey Joens had a game-high 20 points to lead City High while Eviyon Richardson tacked on 17 for the Little Hawks.

Ella Cook had 15 points while Andie Westlake and Georgia Kimm each had nine in a balanced City High attack.

Kaliyah Sain had 15 points to lead three Kennedy players in double figures.
