Solon had a pair of runners in the top seven and placed third in a strong field at the Hillcrest Academy Invitational on Monday in Kalona.

Junior Gabe Hinman was fourth and senior Tyler Bilskie finished seventh as Class 3A fifth-ranked Solon placed third in the team standings with 53 points.

Class 2A top-ranked Danville-New London had the top two individual finishers led by champion Ty Carr and won the team title with 43 points.

Class 3A second-ranked Pella was runner-up with 49 points while Class 2A fifth-ranked Mid-Prairie was fourth with 93.

Hinman paced Solon with a fourth-place finish in a time of 17:28.82 while Bilskie was seventh in 17:35.9.

Freshman Brick Kabela finished 13^th in 18:02.26 and Ben DeValk while Ben DeValk was 16^th in 18:11.41 and Michael Yeomans was 17^th in 18:15.89.
