City High split a doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Prairie on Monday in Iowa City winning the opener 8-5 before having its 12-game winning streak come to an end with a 15-14 loss in the nightcap.

Class 5A third-ranked City High moved to 17-3 on the season with the split in the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader while Prairie moved to 11-7 on the year.

City High snapped a 4-4 tie in the opener with three runs in the fifth inning and held on for an 8-5 win.

Ella Cook earned the win in relief, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out two in three innings.

Sydney Fellows went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI to lead City High in game one while Ayana Lindsey went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Makayla Ribble was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and scored a run and Brooke Bormann had a solo home run.
Libby Frantz doubled and drove in a run and Keli Potter and Elyse Rios each drove in runs.

Prairie scored seven runs in the final two innings to take a 15-8 lead and held off a furious seventh-inning City High rally to earn the split with a wild 15-14 win in the nightcap.

Fellows went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI to pace City High.

Carey Koenig homered and drove in three runs and Lindsey went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.

Kelli Potter had two hits and drove in three runs and Ribble had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

Georgia Kimm and Cook each had a hit and scored two runs.
