Solon built a 6-0 lead and survived some tense moments late to down Class 2A eighth-ranked Jesup 6-5 on Thursday in a non-conference contest in Solon.

The win was the fourth straight for Class 3A No. 13 Solon and improved the Spartans to 15-6 on the season. Jesup dropped to 7-3 with the loss.

Sarah Heick had two hits and drove in three runs while Ava Stebral had two hits and an RBI to lead Solon.

Hilary Wilson and Jadyn Jeter each had a hit and drove in a run while Kayla West doubled and scored a run for Solon and Monet Barnhouse had a hit and scored a run.

Solon scored three runs with two outs in the first inning to take an early lead it would never give up.

Wilson and Heick each had run scoring singles and Jeter had an RBI triple in the three-run Spartan first.

Madison Sprague earned the win for Solon while Carly Ellison secured the save.
