Rowan Udell won the first conference title of his career on Saturday and it came against a familiar foe and in dominating fashion.

Udell defeated sixth-ranked Tyler Thurston of North Cedar for the third time this season in the 195-pound title match at the River Valley Conference meet in Tipton.

After winning tight decisions over Thurston in the finals of the Regina Invitational and in a dual meet earlier this month Udell notched his first RVC title with a 9-1 major decision over Thurston.

The 9-1 win in the final moved Udell to 40-0 on the season and followed back-to-back pins in his opening two matches on Saturday.

Udell needed a combined 2:55 seconds of mat time to rack up a pair of pins to reach the finals.

The title from Udell helped Regina finish 10th in the team standings with 53 points.

West Liberty crowned four champions and edged Camanche by 11 points to claim its sixth consecutive conference team title finishing with 211.5 points.

Tipton was third with 165 followed by Wilton with 158.5 and Anamosa with 149.5.

Sam Aitchison (138) and Aidan Udell (160) each added sixth-place finishes for Regina.

Morgan Hartz was sixth at 182 points to lead West Branch as the Bears finished 14th with 10 points.
