Recruiting season is filled with prospects whose best football lies ahead of them.

Few recruits fit into that category more than West High senior Brendan Mott.

Following a prep career that was hampered by injuries Mott locked up his future plans on over the weekend committing to Kansas State on Sunday with a post on Twitter.

“Proud to announce my commitment to play football the University of Kansas State,” Mott wrote on Twitter. Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. Go Cats!”

Mott made 30 tackles and had five sacks during his prep career that was limited to 12 games by a series of injuries.

A torn ACL and meniscus ended Mott’s junior season after four games.

Mott returned from a broken elbow and broken tibia during the offseason to play in eight games as a senior.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound linebacker had 23 tackles and ranked second on the team with 3.5 tackles last season while helping West High to a 9-2 record and a spot in the Class 5A quarterfinals.

Mott had 5.5 tackles for loss last season and projects as a linebacker or tight end in college.
