Volleyball Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Goes 3-2 at Caroline Found Volleyball Extravaganza

Clear Creek Amana went 3-2 and won the consolation bracket at the Caroline Found Volleyball Extravaganza at West High on Saturday.
The Clippers joined host West High and Liberty High in going 1-2 in pool play before winning back-to-back matches over Des Moines Hoover and Cedar Rapids Washington in the consolation bracket.
Class 4A No. 12 Clear Creek Amana (9-5) fell to 4A No. 2 Dubuque Wahlert (21-12, 21-14) and 5A No. 6 West Des Moines Dowling (21-14, 21-18) in pool play.
Shauntina Williams had five kills and Calia Clubb had four kills in the loss to Dubuque Wahlert while Cheyaenne Bunch had nine assists and Jordan Neely had nine digs.
Against West Des Moines Dowling Williams had five kills and Clubb and Madison George each had three kills while Bunch had 13 assists.
Clubb had 10 kills and Bunch had 18 assists in a 21-13, 21-14 pool play win over Cedar Rapids Washington.
The Clippers downed Des Moines Hoover 21-3, 21-4 in the consolation semifinals and defeated Cedar Rapids Washington 21-11, 21-18 in the consolation final.
George and Claire Schwarting each had four kills and Alexi Kimm had eight assists in the win over Hoover.
In the consolation final win Hailey Pollock had a team-high four kills, Clubb had two kills while Bunch had eight assists and Neely had 10 digs.
Class 4A No. 10 Liberty High defeated Pella Christian (21-16, 21-18) and fell to 2A No. 3 Dyersville Beckman (21-9, 22-24, 15-10) and 5A No. 10 Ankeny (18-21, 21-12, 15-16) in pool play.
Liberty High lost to 3A No. 10 Mount Vernon 25-17, 25-15 in the championship bracket quarterfinals.
LeeAnn Potter had 28 kills in four matches to lead West High while Lauren Roman and Sydney Woods each added 13 kills.
Hailey Hested led Liberty high with 62 assists while Gabbie Schroeder had a team-high 30 digs.
Potter added 25 digs and four ace serves and Woods had 22 digs as Liberty High dropped to 6-5 on the season.
5A No. 15 West High fell to Mount Vernon (21-17, 17-21, 15-13) and 3A No. 11 Waterloo Columbus (21-18, 21-9) in pool play and downed Des Moines Hoover (21-7, 21-5).
West High fell to Dyersville Beckman 25-14, 25-15 in the championship quarterfinals to drop to 4-11 on the season.
Dyersville Beckman defeated Ankeny 25-15, 25-20 in the title match.
Solon Goes 3-2 at Linn-Mar Tournament
Class 3A ninth-ranked Solon went 3-2 at the Linn-Mar Invitational on Saturday in Marion.
The Spartans earned wins over Waterloo East (21-8, 21-11) and Fairfield (21-18, 21-18) and fell to 5A No. 5 Linn-Mar (21-18, 21-17) in pool play.
Solon defeated Cedar Rapids Kennedy 21-18, 21-19 in the championship bracket quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Linn-Mar 11-21, 21-14, 15-13 in the semifinals.
The Spartans improved to 12-5 on the season with the three wins.
