West High continued its late season surge with a sweep of Cedar Rapids Kennedy in a reschedule Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader in Cedar Rapids.
Class 4A ninth-ranked West High won the opener 7-4 and took the nightcap 10-0 to push its winning streak to eight and improve to 28-9 on the season and 18-8 in MVC play.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy dropped to 12-23 and 10-16 with its 12th consecutive loss.
West High scored four runs in the second and third in the third to rally from a 2-0 hole in game one.
Austin West earned the win allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking five.
Ryan Cooper went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs.
Alex Schwickerath went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI while Ben Madden, Logan Trumbull and Lucas Karwall all had a hit and drove in a run.
Braden Houston and Jason Strunk each had a hit and scored a run in the win.
Freshman Marcus Morgan tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out six as West High won the nightcap 10-0 in five innings.
Cooper went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI while Houston went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Nick Biancuzzo went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs while Carter Johnson and Strunk each had a hit and drove in a run.

City High Splits with Cedar Rapids Washington
City High concluded the conference season by splitting a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Washington on Saturday in Cedar Rapids.
The Little Hawks won the opener 6-2 and dropped game two 8-2 while moving to 21-15 on the season and finishing 13-13 in MVC play.
Cedar Rapids Washington (21-15) closed the MVC season 17-9.
Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand earned in the win in the opener allowing two runs on 10 hits while striking out six in a complete game.
DJ Heck and Jacob Dykes each had two hits for City High while Cade Hanrahan had a hit and drove in two runs.
Zach Kuepker, Sam Lewers and Cole Milder all had a hit and scored a run for City High.
Heck had two hits and Kuepker drove in two runs to lead City High in the nightcap.
Quenton Max and Travis Reyhons each had a hit and scored a run and Liam McComas added a hit.
JD Alberhasky took the loss in relief of starter Evan Jones who allowed two runs on four hits in two innings.
Albherhasky allowed a run on one hit in 2 2/3 strong innings of relief.
