Sophomore Lucas Walker tossed a no-hitter and Luke Ira upped his state-leading home run total to 14 with a first-inning blast in the opener as Class 3A fourth-ranked Solon swept Benton Community in a WAMAC doubleheader in Van Horne.
Solon won the opener 5-0 behind Walker who struck out one and walked four while holding the Bobcats hitless to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Ira was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in the opener while Tyler Linderbaum went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.
Kendrick Harris doubled and scored a run and Zach Wegmann had an RBI in the opener.
Linderbaum earned the win as Solon took the nightcap 9-3.
Linderbaum allowed one run on one hit in four innings and three different Spartans tossed an inning of relief to secure the win.
Harris went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI while Ira doubled and scored two runs to lead Solon.
Linderbaum, Adam Bock, Spencer Wegmann and Chris McSweeney all had a hit and an RBI in game two.
Solon improved to 21-8 on the season with the sweep and moved to 17-5 in WAMAC play.
Benton Community dropped to 10-16 and 9-11 in WAMAC action.

Clippers Stay Hot With Sweep of Maquoketa
As the prep baseball season heads for the homestretch Clear Creek Amana is clicking at the right time.
The Clippers pushed their win streak to four with a sweep of Maquoketa in a WAMAC doubleheader in Maquoketa on Wednesday.
Clear Creek Amana won the opener 4-2 and took the nightcap 14-0 in five innings to improve to 14-12 on the season and even its WAMAC record at 10-10 with its fifth conference win in its last six games.
Maquoketa dropped to 3-22 on the season and 3-19 in WAMAC play.
Clear Creek Amana won the opener 4-2 behind a strong outing by senior Camden Armstrong.
Armstrong allowed two runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking one to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Camden Smyka went 4-for-4 with two doubles a run and an RBI and David Jensen went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
Ben Swails went 2-for-2 with a double, Cody Ogden had a hit and scored a run and Sam Young had a hit and drove in a run.
Casey Ogden struck out six in a three-hit shutout in the nightcap as the Clippers completed the sweep.
Grant Jensen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI and Cody Ogden had two hits and scored three runs for the Clippers.
Smyka and Casey Ogden each had a hit and drove in a run while Swails scored twice and drove in a run.

Liberty High Splits with Alburnett
TJ Kimm snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning as Liberty High split a doubleheader with Class 1A fifth-ranked Alburnett with a 2-1 win in the nightcap.
Alburnett won the opener 4-2 before Liberty High forced the split with a 2-1 win in the nightcap to improve to 8-14 on the season.
The win in the nightcap stopped a nine-game winning streak for Alburnett which dropped to 26-4 on the season with the loss in game two.
Ethan O’Donnell tossed five strong innings in the game-two win, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out one and walking two.
Sam Funke worked a scoreless sixth inning to earn the win while Tyler Dahm retired the side in order in the seventh to notch the save.
Dahm had a hit and scored a run while Keian Secrist scored the go-ahead run on a single by Kimm in the sixth.
Cayden Duhaime and Sam Funke added hits for Liberty High.
Secrist took the loss in the opener allowing three earned runs on 11 hits in five innings.
Alec Boldt and Secrist each had two hits while Secrist had an RBI and Boldt scored a run.
Dahm had a hit, an RBI and scored a run while Nolan Frey doubled and Funke and Tyler White each added hits.

West High Blanks Muscatine
Four West High pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter in an 8-0 win over Muscatine in a non-conference contest in Muscatine on Wednesday.
Class 4A fifth-ranked West High improved to 19-7 with the win that came after the Trojans were swept in a doubleheader by Dubuque Wahlert on Monday.
Muscatine dropped to 3-15 with the loss.
Senior Jack Wilson allowed the lone Muskie hit while striking out three and walking four in 4 1/3 innings.
Casey Marvin struck out two in 2/3 of an inning and Nate Wilkinson and Alex Swack each had a strikeout in scoreless innings.
Owen McAreavy went 2-for-3 with two doubles while Alex Schwickerath had two hits and drove in three runs for West High.
Lucas Karwal had two hits and Chase Calderwood had a hit and drove in two runs for the Trojans.

City High Sweeps Pleasant Valley
City High swept Pleasant Valley with a pair of 2-1 wins in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday in Bettendorf.
Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand had a complete game win in the opener while Evan Jones worked six strong innings to pick up the win for City High in game two.
City High improved to 17-11 with the sweep while Pleasant Valley dropped to 16-13.
Threlkeld-Wiegand allowed one run on three hits while striking out four in the game one win.
Travis Reyhons tripled and scored a run while DJ Heck had a hit and scored a run for City High.
Sam Lewers and Cole Milder each drove in runs for the Little Hawks.
In the nightcap Jones allowed one unearned run on two hits in six innings and Jacob Dykes worked a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save.
Zach Kuepker went 2-for-3 while Dykes and Lewers each had a hit and an RBI in the nightcap.
DJ Heck and a hit and scored a run and Liam McComas doubled in game two.
