Baseball Roundup: City High Pushes Win Streak to Five with Sweep of Burlington

City High ran its winning streak to five straight with a sweep of Burlington in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday in Burlington.
The Little Hawks hammered 16 hits in a 9-1 win in the opener and followed with a 5-3 win in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
City High improved to 9-4 on the season while Burlington dropped to 5-8.
Senior Evan Jones tossed a complete game two-hitter in the opener, striking out four and walking two while allowing just one unearned run.
City High scored twice in each of the first four innings to give Jones all the support he would need.
Liam McComas led the attack going 3-for-4 with four RBI while Travis Reyhons, Zach Kuepker, Sam Lewers, Ben Parker and Cole Milder all had two hits.
Milder and Reyhons each scored two runs and drove in a run in game one.
In the nightcap City High scored runs in the fifth and sixth innings to break a 3-3 tie.
McComas had a home run and drove in two runs in the game-two win while Reyhons scored twice and Lewers had a hit and scored a run.
Jacob Dykes and Kuepker each had a hit and drove in a run.
Quenton Max earned the win working 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
JD Alberhasky worked the final 1 1/3 allowing just one hit and striking out two to earn the save.

West High Blanks Lewis Central
Class 4A ninth-ranked West High knocked off Council Bluffs Lewis Central 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday at West Des Moines Valley.
West High improved to 10-4 with the win while Lewis Central dropped to 4-5 with the loss.
Noah Aanestad tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the win, striking out seven and walking two.
Lucas Karwal and Alex Schwickerath each had two hits and scored two runs to lead West High while Jason Strunk homered and drove in four runs.
Carter Johnson, Braden Houston and Ryan Cooper all had a hit and drove in a run for West High.
West High had its second game on Wednesday against second-ranked West Des Moines Valley rained out.

Regina Holds of Cedar Rapids Xavier
Ryne Schooley had two doubles a home run and drove in six runs to lead Regina to an 11-9 win over Cedar Rapids Xavier in a non-conference contest at Regina on Wednesday.
The win was the fourth straight for Regina and improved the Regals to 8-2 on the season while Cedar Rapids Xavier dropped to 6-5 with the loss.
Trent Hoogerwerf added two hits and drove in a run for Regina while Masen Miller had a hit and scored three runs for the Regals.
Nick Brant earned the win for Regina allowing four unearned runs on five hits in five innings.
