Softball Roundup: City High Stays Unbeaten in MVC Play With Sweep of Cedar Falls

City High continued its strong start to the season with a doubleheader sweep of Cedar Falls on Tuesday in Iowa City.
Class 5A No. 13 City High won the opener 6-1 and took the nightcap 3-2 while improving to 7-1 on the season and remaining unbeaten in Mississippi Valley Conference play at 6-0.
Cedar Falls dropped to 0-9 and 0-6 in MVC play.
Ayana Lindsey earned the win in game one allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven and walking four in a complete game.
Lindsey also went 2-for-4 with a home run to aid her own cause.
Sydney Fellows had a double and scored a run and Keli Potter had a double, scored twice and drove in a run.
Alexa Fredericks was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI in the game one win.
Ella Cook picked up the win in the nightcap allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six.
Cook also went 2-for-3 and scored two runs in the win.
Carey Koenig homered and drove in two runs while Fellows had a hit and an RBI and Brianna Bentler doubled.
Regina Rolls at Bellevue
Class 2A seventh-ranked Regina rolled to a 12-2 six-inning win over Bellevue in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Bellevue on Tuesday.
Katie Bracken earned the win striking out nine in a six-inning complete game as Regina improved to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in RVC play. Bellevue dropped to 3-1 with the loss.
Six different Regals had multi-hit games as Regina hammered out 16 hits in the win.
Mary Catherine Graff led the way going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and five RBI.
Paisley Gardner had three hits and drove in two runs and Carrigan O’Conner had two doubles among her three hits and scored two runs.
Taylor O’Conner, Jess Hunter and Bracken all had two hits while Bracken drove in two runs and Hunter scored three times.

West Branch Gets Back on Track
West Branch snapped a two-game losing skid with a 12-7 win over Cascade in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in West Branch on Tuesday.
Freshman Nick Henson had four hits and scored two runs as West Branch improved to 3-2 with a win in its conference opener.
Cascade dropped to 2-2 on the season.
Maddy Hatfield had two hits and drove in two runs while Kaiya Luneckas had a double and drove in three runs to pace West Branch.
Taylor Hetin had a double, drove in two runs and scored three times.
Luneckas earned the win allowing seven runs, five earned, on four hits while striking out eight and walking seven.
Hanna Tissinger worked 2 2/3 innings of one-hit relief for the Bears.
